Gonbad-e Qabus is one of the tallest brick towers in the world that has been registered in UNESCO world heritage site. This tower is located on top of on a 15 meters hill, and the tower itself is 55 meters height, so in total, that would be 70 meters. Its diameter from the inside is also 15 meters.
It is referred to as the “Tomb of Gabus”, he wrote the book of “Gabus Name” which we all have studied in school. He was the ruler of Ziyarid dynasty.
Some say they built this tower to work as a sign for the city to be found from distance, and some say it was a tomb in which Qabus’ body was placed as a mummy. Those who say this story, believe that the body was stolen during the Mongol invasion. This tower dates back to almost over one thousand year ago.
